Taiwan's EVA Air has completed the historic launch of the first-ever nonstop service between Washington, D.C. and Taipei; marking its 10th North American gateway.

EVA Air, Taiwan’s leading independent airline, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with leading global freight forwarder AIT Worldwide Logistics (AIT) to jointly advance EVA Air’s Green Transportation Programme over the next two years. In the first year of the collaboration, EVA Air will provide approximately 15,000 metric tonnes of CO₂e in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) environmental attributes to Microsoft, helping reduce the Scope 3 emissions associated with air transportation of its cloud infrastructure equipment. Microsoft and Formosa Petrochemical Corporation (FPCC) also attended the signing ceremony, demonstrating a shared goal across the aviation, energy, logistics and technology sectors to accelerate lower-carbon air transportation.

The Capital One mileage program has just launched its newest transfer bonus, to EVA Air Infinity MileageLands. Typically the transfer ratio between the programs is significantly less than 1:1, while this bonus gets it to very close to 1:1.

As the first airline to offer nonstop service between these two cities, the new route represents a key milestone in strengthening connectivity between Taiwan and the U.S. East Coast. A special inaugural ceremony was held at Washington Dulles International Airport to commemorate the milestone and welcome the inaugural flight.
